Copyright – If you took the photographs you’re going to print to canvas yourself, then you don’t need to worry about this item. But if you hired a professional photographer to take them, ask him if they require image credits to be added on photographs before they’re printed on canvas. However, if you got your images or photos online, make sure that:

  • they’re under a Creative Commons license that allows you to print them for your purposes,
  • they’re in the public domain (which generally means they’ve either been created before 1978 or the creator has been dead for more than 70 years), or
  • you’ve obtained permission from the creator to reproduce their work for your intended use.

Photo Quality – We at Large Format Posters can check, edit, and proof your photos up to an extent, but it would be best for you to make sure your photos are of the best quality as you know what results you want out of your canvas prints best. Avoid photos that are blurry, over- or underexposed, or damaged, to name a few possible problems.

Image Resolution – Your digital image’s resolution should correspond with your canvas prints’ intended size, with a recommended resolution of 300 dpi. For example, if you want a photo canvas portrait with the physical dimensions of 11″ x 14″, your digital file should be 3300 x 4200 pixels for best results.

Any lower can cause pixellation in your canvas prints – those unsightly little blocks of color you typically see when you enlarge small images on your computer to too big a size – to appear. Consult image size converters online if you need help, or chat with one of our specialists live on our site for assistance.

Borders – Whether you order your canvas prints from us rolled or gallery-wrapped, you can opt for two-inch black or white borders to be added to your photo canvas prints at no extra charge. This is so that your entire image appears in front of your framed canvas portrait and doesn’t extend to the sides, though some of our customers also prefer that option.
