Banners versus Bulletin Billboards

December 12, 2008

Printing

It’s common knowledge that long drives and traffic jams are dragging.  So seeing amusing and creative banners and billboards is refreshing.  If you’re thinking of using one yourself, you may be wondering which one you should go for, unless of course you have enough budget to cover both.

Bulletins are the really big ones that you see along the expressway and other main roads.  They are placed on large metal stands which are high enough to make the display visible from a distance, and sturdy enough to support the weight of the bulletin.

Banners, on the other hand, are smaller.  They use the same material which is vinyl, a synthetic material that’s made into thin sheets, thicker than regular cloth and definitely more durable.

The good

Bulletins and banners offer a relatively cheap advertising option.  Yes, the cost of having them printed, especially wide bulletins, are high but if you think about the number of people who see your bulletin, you pay much less than a dollar to advertise for each passerby.

With respect to this, banners make a good alternative to bulletins.  They are much cheaper yet they offer the same outdoor advertising advantage.

The bad

Needless to say, banners provide a smaller space than bulletins. But with the latter, even if the space is big, you can only put a few details.  The challenge with bulletins is making a statement with a few words or images.  Banners, since they are designed for shorter distances, can contain more information so if you’re ad needs to elaborate on certain matters, you can do so in banners.

Moreover, bulletins need the metal frames to stand.  Such ads spaces would entail extra costs.  You have more flexibility with banners when it comes to posting.  Vinyl banners come with grommets so you can easily hang them, and not all locations need payment.  Sometimes, it only takes someone’s permission to hang.

The verdict

Given limited budget and space, banners are the better choice.  You get the advantage of having more banners in more places, as opposed to having one expensive bulletin placed in one location.  Banner printing translates to affordable and effective outdoor advertising.
