Walt Disney Art: 25 Magical Banners to Spark Your Creativity
November 8, 2010
One might say that it is magic – that which makes Walt Disney’s creations so beloved after all these years. Mickey, Donald, Goofy and all their friends still retain that youthful glow, despite having entertained so many generations. Make no mistake too, Mickey’s still hip at 72 years old. He’s coming out with a video game on Wii, even!
Perhaps Disney’s “children” persist because he imbued them with a love for fun and imagination. After all, Disney once said “Laughter is timeless. Imagination has no age. And dreams are forever.” It’s as if he made sure everyone who saw a Disney cartoon or visited one of his parks had a great time -and that means giving special attention to everything.
Everything, including their banners. In fact, we searched the internet for some magical Walt Disney Art -inspired banners that have been used in the parks or wherever lovers of fun celebrate the house that started with a mouse.
We hope these Walt Disney Art banners awaken your imagination and help you make your own whimsical banners!

Epic Mickey Banners – These three banners break away from the usual cartoony Disney art with more modern, dynamic elements. Mickey’s paint- splattering and Oswald’s mischievous, goading expression suggests a game that is both action-packed and immersive.

Various Banners – Using beloved Disney characters in banners all over (and even outside) the parks can endear people to the characters. It’s a great way to keep spirits up, or to remind people about activities that Disney is cooking up.

Disney Villains – Here’s a great way to signal the coming of Halloween – by featuring Disney’s greatest villains! Not only are they wicked, they’re also examples of Walt Disney art at its finest with their flamboyant costumes!

Food and Wine Festival – These two examples were done in the Googie illustration style, which explains their retro-futuristic looks – somewhat akin to a Jetsons’ cartoon. Despite utilizing flat colors and shapes, the overall composition makes it still easy to make out the sashimi (Tokyo banner) and the pizza (Bologna banner).

D 23 Expo banners – These are a fun way to celebrate everything Disney. These banners are from an expo held by Disney’s official fan club; and while they do feature the famous mouse, it’s nice to see lesser-known but still as awesome characters like Baloo (from The Jungle Book and TaleSpin) and Figment the Dragon. Plus, the hand-drawn effect calls to mind classic Disney.

We hope these samples not only remind you of how amazing Walt Disney art is but also, inspire you to make your own banners that are just as fantastic and magical.

These are great. My kids would go nuts over these. Were they all printed on vinyl banners? What has been your experience with canvas?

Walt Disney is my favorite cartoons. If you try to make these posters on canvas than I think it will be more graceful.
